Sneak peeks van nieuwe workshops - Sneak peeks from new workshops

Achter de schermen ben ik druk bezig met een nieuw workshopaanbod, samen met mijn lieve vriendin Erna. Onze workshops breien, haken, sieraden maken en mixed media/art journaling bieden we aan in de sfeervolle Galerie Koopmans in Earnewâld, waar we omringd zijn met kunstwerken van andere kunstenaars (o.a. van mijn man Gosse Koopmans). Een inspirerende omgeving!

We zijn dus druk bezig met het maken van voorbeelden en van de workshopfolder. Die zal ik ergens volgende week hier ook publiceren.
Maar hier eerst even wat sneak peekjes...

Behind the scenes I'm very busy creating new workshop offers, together with my sweet friend Erna. We give our workshops knitting, crocheting, making jewelry and mixed media/art journaling in the characteristic Gallery Koopmans in Earnewâld, where we are surrounded with art works of other artists (among which my husband Gosse Koopmans). A very inspiring place!



Zaterdag 4 juli van 13:00 tot 17:00 uur doe ik ook mee aan de Eastermarder hobbyroute, dan kun je mijn studio zien en wat ik zoal maak. Vooral ook een aantal 'works in progress' haha, maar ook bijvoorbeeld de art journals waar ik op dit moment in werk. Als je tijd en zin hebt, kom gezellig langs!

En anders ben je welkom op de opening van de zomertentoonstelling in Galerie Koopmans a.s. zondagmiddag 5 juli vanaf 16:00 uur. Zie ik je daar?

Saturday 4th of July from 13:00 - 17:00 p.m. you can walk a crafters route here in Eastermar, and you can visit my studio and see what I create. A lot of which are still 'works in progress'LOL, but you can also see the art journals I'm working in at the moment. If you like and you have time, I would love for you to come by!

Otherwise you're also very welcome at the opening of the summer exposition at Gallery Koopmans next sunday afternoon 5th of July from 16:00 p.m. Will I see you there?

Inspiratie - inspiration

Vandaag gespeeld met merinowol op de punchmachine. Ik heb 4 kleuren merino viltwol gebruikt op donkerblauwe stof, dit wordt een tas. Ik denk erover om hier met free motion embroidery over heen te gaan (met donkerblauw garen)?

Daarom eerst geoefend met free motion embroidery, op een met inkt bewerkt babydoekje. Deze op een stukje stof gedaan ter versteviging (gewoon vast gehouden) en hier overheen genaaid met de speciale borduurvoet.

Heerlijk om te doen en ik dacht: "waarom doe ik dit niet vaker?". Vanaf nu dus...

Today I played with my punching machine. I used 4 colours merino felt wool on dark blue fabric. This is going to be a bag. I think I'm going to free motion embroider over this with dark blue thread.

First I practiced with the free motion embroidery on an inked baby whipe. I put this on a piece of other fabric to reinforce (I just held it together with my hands). Then I sewed over it with the free motion foot.

I really love doing this and I thought: "why don't I do this more often?!". Well, from now on I will...

Nieuw workshopaanbod in Galerie Koopmans, Earnewâld

Met trots presenteer ik hier het workshopaanbod, waar ik samen met mijn goede vriendin Erna aan heb gewerkt de laatste tijd.

De workshops worden gegeven in galerie Koopmans, een prachtig gebouw in Eernewoude, waar ook de schilderijen van mijn man Gosse Koopmans hangen.

Zaterdagmiddag 20 én 27 september a.s. zijn Erna en ik beiden aanwezig in de galerie. Kom gezellig langs, je kunt dan de workshops bekijken en je ter plekke inschrijven of een folder mee nemen.

Dus mocht je interesse hebben om temidden van inspirerende kunstwerken een gezellige creatieve workshop te doen, dan hoor ik graag van je!

Nieuwe tas in de maak - making a new tote bag

Eindelijk weer eens verder gegaan met het maken van een tas. Dit was ik al zo lang van plan, maar het kwam er telkens niet van... (ken je het concept 'weerstand'...?!)

I finally continued working on my new tote bag again. I wanted to do this for so long now, but it didn't happen (are you familiar with the term 'resistance'....?!)

Ik had het al een hele tijd geleden zover voorbereid, de volgende stap was beslissen wat voor kleuren en stoffen ik zou gebruiken en of ik reepjes stof over de lengte zou gebruiken en daar over heen machinequilten of dat ik de quilt-as-you-go techniek zou gebruiken (geleerd van Tara Rebman). Eerst maar eens het laatste proberen...

A long time ago I had already prepared the pattern parts on batting and backing fabric, the next step was to decide on colours, fabrics and wether I would use long strips of fabric and machine quilt over these or wether I would use the quilt-as-you-go technique (taught by Tara Rebman). Let me try the last one first...

Hier zien jullie het eerste begin van een compleet nieuwe tas en de stapel stofjes waar ik mee werk. Mooi of niet? Ik vind de kleuren en motieven in ieder geval heel fris vrolijk!

Here you see the beginning of a complete new tote bag and the stash of fabrics that I choose to work with. Like it or not? Well, I think the colours and designs are very fresh and bright!

Collagekaart en vilten schaal - Collaged card and felted bowl

Afgelopen zaterdag de afsluiting van mijn astrologie-opleiding gehad. Het was een bijzondere dag met een bijzondere groep; we hebben veel met elkaar gedeeld en van elkaar geleerd. Voor een jarige medestudente heb ik deze collagekaart en met de hand gevilte schaal gemaakt. Beiden waren erg leuk om te doen en op deze thema's wil ik nog wel verder doorgaan.

Last Saturday I have attended the last meeting with my astrology students and teachers. It was a special day with a special group of people; we have shared so much with each other and learned from each other. For one of the students who celebrated her birthday I made this collaged card and handfelted bowl. Both were fun projects to do and I want to explore these techniques more now.

De kaart gebruik ik gelijk ook maar voor het Diva Alfabet Project waar ik aan meedoe op de yahoogroep "MixedMediaDivas". De opdracht is iets te maken in kleur, techniek en/of onderwerp met beginletter C. Voor deze kaart heb ik gebruikt de C van Colourful, Collage, Card and Charcoal... Jammer genoeg kon ik niets bedenken in het Nederlands met een C, dus dan maar in het Engels LOL! Verder heb ik nog gebruikt: gel medium, acrylverf, oliepastels en oostindische inkt.

With this card I'm also participating in the Diva Alphabet Project on the yahoo group "MixedMediaDivas". Als kado heb ik een schaal voor de jarige gevilt met de hand, verstevigd met een mengsel van witte lijm verdund met water, dit laten opdrogen in een schaal voor de vorm. Daarna heb ik op de onderkant mooie gemêleerde wol in een spiraalvorm in lijm gelegd. Ik moet zeggen dat ik erg tevreden ben met het resultaat en de jarige was er erg blij mee! Hier zijn een paar foto's van de schaal, laat me weten wat je er van vindt, ik zou het leuk vinden om je opmerkingen te lezen.

I made a hand felted bowl as a gift for the birthday girl and I stiffened it with a mixture of white glue and water, then I let this dry in a bowl to form it. Once dried I layed down beautiful varigated wool in spiral form in glue on the bottom of the bowl. I really must say that I'm very pleased with the result and the birthday girl seemed happy with it! Here are some pictures of the bowl, tell me what you think, I'd love to read your comments.

Art journal en gehaakte pannenlap - Art journal and crocheted potholder

Eindelijk weer eens in mijn art journal gespeeld... op de yahoogroep MixedMediaDivas doe ik mee met een uitdaging "Artful Alphabet". De bedoeling is dat je elke maand 2 letters van het alfabet gebruikt in een mixed media project, dat wil zeggen de beginletters van de kleuren, technieken of/en onderwerpen die je gebruikt.

Finally I've had another play day in my art journal... I joined a challenge "Artful Alphabet" on the yahoo group MixedMediaDivas. Each month you're supposed to make 2 mixed media projects with 2 letters of the alphabet; better said use the begin letters of the colours, techniques or/and subjects that you're using.

Dat leek me een leuke uitdaging die me meteen ook "dwingt" om geregeld in mijn art journal te spelen. Dit is mijn eerste bijdrage voor deze uitdaging en ik ben iets te enthousiast van start gegaan, want ik heb in één spread (dubbele pagina) meteen al allebei de letters A en B gebruikt. Was niet helemaal de bedoeling, maar volgende keer maak ik voor elke letter een apart project ;-)
De letter A heb ik verwerkt in techniek: Aquarel en Art journaling; in kleur: Aqua, onderwerp: Alfabet. De letter B heb ik verwerkt in onderwerp: Bird en Bloemen. Laat me weten wat je er van vindt, ik zou het heel leuk vinden om wat van je te horen!

It seemed like a fun challenge, that also ignites me to play in my art journal more regularly. This is my first entry for the challenge and I'm afraid I started a bit too enthusiastic, because I made one spread of the two letters A and B at the same time. That wasn't exactly the way it was supposed to be, but next time I will make a project for each letter ;-)
I used the letter A in the used technique: Aquarel and Art journaling; in colour: Aqua, subject: Alphabet. I used the letter B in the subject: Bird and Bloemen (which is flowers in Dutch!). Tell me what you think, I would love to hear from you!




Daarnaast heb ik afgelopen week ook nog een pannenlap gemaakt van 2 gehaakte granny squares. Leuk om te doen en 't ziet er zo vrolijk uit!

Then I also made a potholder this last week of 2 crocheted granny squares. So much fun to do and it looks so cheerful!

Donna Downey workshop

Gisteren naar de Layered Composition Art Journal Workshop van Donna Downey geweest bij Creabest in Ommen. Op de laatste Kreadoe had ik bij Louise van Art Journey al zo'n mooi Dylusions Creative Journal gekocht om mijn artjournaling nu eens echt goed op te pakken. Daarin heb ik tot nu toe heel keurig netjes de eerste 3 pagina's gevuld, en ik begon pas met de volgende pagina als de vorige klaar was. Ja, heel braaf!

Yesterday I went to Donna Downey's Layered Composition Art Journal Workshop at Creabest in Ommen. At the latest Kreadoe fair at Louise's stand of Art Journey I had already bought myself this beautiful Dylusions Creative Journal, to really get my art journaling going. Until now I have neatly filled the first 3 pages of that book, and I only started the next page when I was finished with the former page. Yes, like a good girl I did!

Wat ben ik blij dat ik gisteren de workshop van Donna Downey heb gedaan! Die verbood ons echt om op de eerste pagina te beginnen, maar we moesten gewoon ergens in het midden beginnen. En hoezo eerst een hele pagina afmaken? Gewoon werken aan een aantal pagina's tegelijk, dat werkt sneller en zo voorkom je dat je ineens niet meer weet hoe je verder moet en jezelf daarmee blokkeert. Nee, gewoon aan een andere pagina verder werken, of als iets je toch niet bevalt, gewoon eroverheen smeren met gesso of verf, of plakken of wat maar ook. Alles mag, niets moet... Hoe bevrijdend, om dat perfectionisme los te kunnen laten en "go with the flow"!

I'm so glad that I took Donna's workshop yesterday! She did not allow us to begin at the very first page, we had to begin somewhere in the middle. And what do you mean finish a page completely? Just work on a couple of pages at a time, it works faster and that's how you avoid the stage of not knowing what to do next and blocking your creativity. No, just work on another page, or if you don't like something, just go over it with gesso or with paint, or glue something on top of it or something. Anything goes, there are no rules... How liberating, to be able to let go of the perfectionism and just go with the flow!

Hier zijn de foto's van wat we in de workshop allemaal gedaan hebben. Zoals je ziet, sommige pagina's alleen geverfd, anderen meer uitgewerkt met o.a. acrylverf, oliepastels en india ink, maar ook een foto transfer en met touw en tags reliëf maken op je pagina. Sommige pagina's vind ik (nog) niks, dus daar ga ik gewoon nog mee verder, en anderen zoals de bloem en het hart, vind ik al wel heel erg mooi. Zijn ook nog niet af, maar dat komt wel. Ik ben benieuwd wat jullie ervan vinden!

Here are the photos of what we have done in the workshop. As you can see some pages are only painted on, others are more worked on with for instance acrylic paint, oil pastels and india ink, but there's also a photo transfer and one page heavily textured with tags and string. Some pages I'm not fond of (yet), so I will be working on them some more, and other pages I really like, for instance the flower and the heart page. They are not finished either but they will be. I'd love to know what you guys think!
